MONROE — Monroe completed the season sweep of Portage-Poynette with a 5-4 win on Tuesday, May 23 in the Badger Challenge. Senior Atziri Ocampo scored four of the Cheesemakers’ five goals.

She opened the game with a near goal in the fifth minute, but it was waved offsides. Ocampo kept the pressure on, though, scoring four minutes later on a breakaway.

In the final 10 minutes of the half, Ocampo tied the game at two with an assist from Addison Bartholf, but Portage-Poynette entered the break up 3-2 with a goal from Ellen Lofsjogard.

The Warriors maintained momentum early in the second half, as Marlies Brandli was given a yellow card. Madison Fernandez’s ensuing penalty kick was saved by a diving Welch, though. The save sparked the Cheesemaker offense, as Karlee Boll tied the game with a kick from the corner of the box.
