NEW GLARUS — In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Sugar River Raiders got by the Lodi Blue Devils 2-1 in Capitol Conference girls soccer on Tuesday, April 21.
All of the scoring took place in the first half as the Blue Devils got an early 1-0 lead at 12:56. The Raiders bounced back as senior Bailey McGuire scored at 29:05 off an assist by junior Kate Parman to tie it a 1-1. Junior Ellie Brenkman scored what proved to be the winning goal at 30:10 on senior Ella Woodmansee’s assist.
The Raiders held a 2-1 lead at halftime and there was no scoring in the second half.
Senior Savanah Minter played all 80 minutes as the goalkeeper and had one save. The Raiders had two shots on goal and the Blue Devils also had two shots on goal.
Lodi was the last Capitol Conference team to beat Sugar River, which came in 2016.
Sugar River (4-1-1, 2-0) had nonconference games scheduled this week: at Mount Horeb on Thursday, April 23 and home against Milton at Belleville on Saturday, April 25.
