KOHLER — Monticello-Belleville senior Josh Potter concluded his prep golf career with a score of 118 at the WIAA Division 2 boys golf state tournament June 4. Lakeland won the Division 2 team title, while Caleb Kern of Edgerton was the individual champion. He won a tie-breaker against teammate Cameron Lee.
Potter was tied for third after the first day, carding a 38, which was two over par. He was just two strokes behind leader Matt Haggart of Lakeland, who finished even. Division 2 and 3 played only 9 holes Monday due to weather.
On the second day, Potter shot an 80. Combined with his first round results, Potter finished 10 over par and tied for 14th.
In his senior season, Potter made state in each of his three respective sports — soccer, bowling and golf. He was a member of the Sugar River Division 3 championship soccer team, scoring two goals in the state tournament. The Belleville bowling team qualified for state, and this spring was his first trip to state golf for Monticello-Belleville. Potter will continue his golf career at Marian University in Fond du Lac.
