MONROE — The Cheesemakers lost to Waunakee Sept. 21 5-0 in a nonconference crossover, one day after losing to Fort Atkinson 3-2 on the road.

In the Sept. 20 loss to the Blackhawks, Monroe got a first half goal from Aaron Ziolkowski that trimmed the deficit at the time to 2-1. Fort Atkinson would score one more goal in the first half and take a 3-1 lead into the break. In the second half, Monroe’s John Reinders punched one in that once again brought the score to within a goal.

Devan Schulte had 12 saves for the Cheesemakers against Fort Atkinson.

WATERTOWN — The Raiders momentarily unblemished in conference play after getting a late goal by Jaden Kreklow off a corner kick from Connor DeLorme in the 88th minute of their game Sept. 20.

“Connor DeLorme sent the ball to the back post where Jaden Kreklow was able to put his head on the ball for a nice goal,” Sugar River coach Kyle Webber said. “Huge win for the Raiders.”

Watertown Luther Prep (9-2-1, 4-1 Capitol South) put just three shots on goal and had 10 fouls. Sugar River had 10 total shots, five on goal, and eight corners and eight fouls.

“Very tough and physical conference game,” Webber said. “Both teams were bringing the pressure. Lots of close scoring chances throughout the game.”

The Raiders played Madison Edgewood in a nonconference game Sept. 22 in Madison and lost 1-0. It was Sugar River’s first loss of the season in nine games.
