FORT ATKINSON — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team took second at the Fort Atkinson Blackhawk Invite Oct. 13.
“That is the best finish MNG has had at the Blackhawk invite,” Cheesemakers coach Linda Moser said. “All of the swimmers PR’d (set a personal record) in one if not both of their individual events and the relays all posted PR times, too.”
DeForest won the 9-team meet with 386 points, with Monroe-New Glarus (323) second, Sauk Prairie (313) third and Waukesha West-Catholic Memorial (305) fourth.
The Cheesemakers took second in the 200-yard medley relay, just a half of a second behind the Waukesha co-op. In the 200-freestyle relay, MNG’s top quartet was eighth and the Cheesemakers finished third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:51.82).
Individually, Mekenzie Hammer won the 100 backstroke (:59.29) by over 2 1/2 seconds and was second in the 200 individual medley (2:15.96). MNG’s Alyssa Roelli took fifth (2:10.95) in the 200-freestyle, and was seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:05.48).
