Juda avoids winless conference season

ARGYLE — With a 40-33 win over Argyle on Friday, Feb. 10, Juda earned its first conference victory of the season.

Rianna Sullivan led the Panthers with 11 points, followed by Briliey Swedlund with 10 points, including a pair of threes. Katie Brooks and Ciarrah Davis tallied five and three points, respectively, all coming from the free-throw line.

For Argyle, Jaylin Hartwig provided over a third of the offense with 13 points. She was 5-for-8 from the charity stripe with a pair of threes. Mya McNett and Alexis Rosenstiel also drained a 3-point each in their respective seven- and five-point totals.

PECATONICA 55, JUDA 33

JUDA — After securing their first conference win on Friday, the Panthers dropped a conference game to the Vikings on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Pecatonica had three players in double figures, led by Chloe Schraepfer with 24 points. She was 5-for-6 from the charity stripe with a three. Bri Peterson and Diana Hendrickson tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively, each with a 3-pointer. The remaining basket from beyond the arc came from Mazie Theorin.

Briliey Swedlund recorded her second-straight double-digit game with 11 points, including a pair of threes. The remaining 3-pointer came from Marta Escalero. She and Rianna Sullivan were a perfect 2-for-2 at the free-throw line.

BRODHEAD 56, WHITEWATER 40

WHITEWATER — Addie Yates was on her game for Brodhead, leading the Cardinals to a Rock Valley Conference win on Friday, Feb. 10. 

The junior tallied a team-leading 17 points, draining three 3-pointers and going 4-for-6 from the charity stripe. She also recorded a team-best five steals with four assists. Alecia Dahl trailed with 14 points and four steals. Although senior Abbie Dix didn’t score in double figures, she grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Cardinals on the boards. The next highest was Taetum Hoesly with five rebounds. 

DARLINGTON 67, BOSCOBEL 51

BOSCOBEL — After leading for most of the first half, the Redbirds entered the locker room at halftime trailing 33-28. Darlington responded in the second half, outscoring Boscobel 39-18 for the win.

Although the Rebirds were outrebounded 37-34, they forced 22 turnovers, which resulted in 16 points. The defense also recorded 23 deflections and eight steals.

Kylie Butler led the squad with 24 points, 15 of which came from beyond the arc. She also paced the Redbirds with four assists and three steals. Jaidyn Evenstad and Cayla Golackson tallied 11 points each. Six of Evenstad’s points came at the charity stripe, as the junior was 6-for-11 at the free-throw line. Golackson led on the boards, with seven rebounds. Although Maddie Gratz scored only four points, she recorded six deflections.

NEW GLARUS 82, WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 35

NEW GLARUS — The Knights draw closer to a perfect conference season with their Capitol South victory over the Vanguards on Friday, Feb. 10.

Lindsey Schadewalt and Alex Atwell recorded double-doubles each to pace the Knights. Schadewalt drained three 3-pointers and went 8-for-10 to contribute to her 27-point total. As of Feb. 13, Schadewalt leads all of Division 4, shooting 50.4% from beyond the arc. To complete the double-double, she grabbed 10 rebounds. Atwell led the Knights with 11 rebounds, paired with 13 points. Elle Lancaster also made three shots from beyond the arc in her 14-point total. Bella Brenkman and Grace Nommensen also contributed defensively, with nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

New Glarus concludes its conference season with a game against Marshall on Thursday, Feb. 16.

EDGEWOOD 69, MONROE 38

MONROE — The Cheesemakers celebrated their four seniors — Syndee Conway, Taylor Jacobson, Allison Wunschel and Sophia Douglas — with a Badger Conference game on Friday, Feb. 10. The fifth starter was Kristina Haumer, a sophomore Austrian exchange student.

Monroe opened the game with a 4-0 lead before Edgewood went on a decisive 12-0 run. The Crusaders outscored the Cheesemakers in each half 39-21 and 30-17.

Jacobson led the squad with 17 points and six rebounds. She, Conway and Wunschel had one 3-pointer each. Conway and Abbey Matley contributed on the boards, with five rebounds apiece. 

BARNEVELD 45, BLACK HAWK 30

BARNEVELD — Despite trailing by just four at halftime, the Warriors dropped their second to last conference game to the Eagles on Friday. Feb. 10. Black Hawk will end its Six Rivers Conference campaign with a game against Juda on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Raylin Peterson scored 15 points with eight rebounds to pace the Warriors. She, Kendra Haldiman (four points) and Mya Milz (five points) made a 3-pointer each. The remaining scorer was Madddy Lange with six points. Haldiman and Hailey Wellnitz also contributed to the boards with seven rebounds apiece.

The Warriors struggled at the free-throw line, making just five of their 15 opportunities. The Eagles also exerted defensive pressure, forcing 15 turnovers.
