ARGYLE — The Six Rivers East Conference announced its All-Conference selections, and five Argyle players received honors.

Junior William Helfvogt was the lone First-Team All-Conference selection. He scored 26 points in a conference win over Monticello on Thursday, Jan. 26. Sophomore Ike Waage and junior Max Godfrey were named to the Second-Team. The duo was a one-two punch, able to bring up the ball and score from all spots on the floor. Sophomore Mason McNett and senior Caden Stoeger received Honorable Mention recognition.

The Orioles finished second in the conference with a 9-3 record, three games behind conference champion Barneveld. Catholic Central upset Argyle in the first round of the WIAA boys basketball tournament, 64-61.

Lucas AC

Senior Lucas Milz joined Helfvogt as First-Team All-Conference selection. Milz led Black Hawk in scoring, with his 3-point shooting keeping the Warriors in many games. He played physically and wasn’t afraid to score through contact. Part way through the season, he broke his foot but played through pain in a 46-45 overtime win over Monticello on Monday, Jan. 16. He scored 19 points in that game.

Black Hawk finished two games below .500 in conference but avenged a regular season sweep in its 58-55 victory over Pecatonica in the first round of the WIAA boys basketball tournament. The Warriors fell to Division 5-state qualifier Fall River 70-44 in the regional final.

Ryer AC

Junior Ryer Indergand was the third local player to receive First-Team All-Conference honors. He led the conference in each major statistical category: points (16.1 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg) and assists (2.9 apg). He scored a career-high 27 points in the season opener against Parkview, where Monticello won 68-56.

Teammate Jackson Eyler made the Second-Team Six Rivers East All-Conference. He was top three in the conference for rebounds (4.7 rpg) and assists (2.3 apg). Eyler shot 66% from the free-throw line, making 19 of 29 attempts.

After a rough stretch where they lost 10 of 11 games, the Ponies turned it on at the end of the year to defeat conference opponents Albany, Juda, Black Hawk and Pecatonica. Monticello finished 8-16 overall and nearly upset Cambria-Friesland 66-62 in the regional quarterfinal.

Jameson Johnson and Tyler McKeon led Pecatonica as Second-Team All-Conference selections. The duo were the first- and second-leading scorers for the Vikings with 13 and 12 ppg, respectively. Those numbers put them at second and third in the conference for scoring.

Pecatonica finished third in conference with a 7-5 record. Despite sweeping Black Hawk during conference, the Vikings fell to the Warriors 58-55 in the WIAA regional quarterfinals.

Brayden Bakken and Ethan Koss were the only All-Conference selections for Albany, receiving Honorable Mention recognition. Koss led the team, averaging 8.4 ppg. Bakken was the third-highest scorer on the team with 6.5 ppg. He shot 65% from the free-throw line and 35% from beyond the arc.

The Comets recorded three conference wins — a sweep of Juda and one win against Black Hawk — and ended their season on a 60-43 loss to Salam in the regional quarterfinals.

Other Honorable Mention selections include Seth Dunlavey (Black Hawk), Andrew Figi (Black Hawk), Nick Roe (Monticello) and Coy Ruegsegger (Pecatonica).
