MUSCODA — The Redbirds held the Chieftains to just 22 points while scoring 70 of their own in a road win on Friday, Jan. 13.

Jaidyn Evenstad and Kylie Butler led the squad offensively, scoring 20 and 18 points, respectively. Butler shot 50% from 3-point range and went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Jaylyn Schwartz and Aubrey McCarthy crashed the boards for eight and six rebounds respectively. The Redbirds had 19 opportunities at the charity stripe and cashed in on 15 of them.


NEW GLARUS 72, WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 38

MAZOMANIE — The Knights nearly doubled the Vanguards in each half to keep pace with Cambridge at the top of the Capitol South Conference.

Three players scored in double figures for New Glarus, led by Alex Atwell with 21 points. She also recorded nine rebounds, just one shy of a double-double. Lindsay Schadewalt, however, did record a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Grace Nommensen was the third player in double figures with 13 points and seven rebounds.


PECATONICA 70, ARGYLE 40

BLANCHARDVILLE — In a game that saw 38 fouls between two teams, Pecatonica overcame Argyle to solidify its spot in the middle of conference.

Chloe Schraepfer led the Vikings with 29 points, going 3-for-3 from the charity stripe with two 3-pointers. Bri Peterson and Diana Hendrickson also scored in double figures with 10 and 11 points, respectively. Anna Tisch tallied eight points with the remaining 3-pointer.

Jaylin Hartwig and Mya McNett propelled the Oriole offense with 18 and 15 points, respectively. The pair accounted for all but one of Argyle’s made free throws. Hannah Gierhart added five points and the remaining two came from Sadie Steiner.


BRODHEAD 50, TURNER 36

BELOIT — Although the Trojans mounted a comeback in the second — doubling their offensive output — Brodhead did enough work in the first to secure a Rock Valley Conference win on Friday, Jan. 13.

Alexis Kammerer and Alecia Dahl led the Cardinals with 17 and 14 points, respectively. The duo accounted for all seven of Brodhead’s 3-pointers. Abbie Dix crashed the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds. 


MONROE 56, EVANSVILLE 49

MONROE — In a preview of next year’s Rock Valley Conference matchup, the Cheesemakers defeated the Blue Devils thanks to a 27-point performance from Taylor Jacobson.

Nearly half of her points came at the free-throw line, where she went 13-for-16. Sydnee Conway made three 3-pointers in the second half to propel the offense. Sophia Douglas added six points, while Abbey Matley tallied five points. The remaining offense came from Sophie Golembiewski (four points), Allison Wunschel (three points) and Delaney Fortney (two points).

On Saturday, Jan. 14, Monroe faced off against Waunakee in the Badger Challenge. Although the Cheesemakers scored just 14 points to the Warrior’s 67, the team shot 83% from the free-throw line.

Jacobson tallied five points with Conway trailing at three points. Sydney Wunschel, Lindsay Leuzinger and Douglas chipped in two points each.

In other local girls basketball, Barneveld defeated Monticello 50-35.
