DARLINGTON — A Darlington man is facing felony charges for a seventh offense of operating while intoxicated.

Darlington Police arrested Steven J. Lauritz Jr., age 58, at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, following a traffic stop on Tama Run Lane. Lauritz has five prior offenses in Wisconsin, and another one out of state. He was also cited for misdemeanor Operating While Revoked (Rev due to alc/contr subst/refusal) during the traffic stop, and misdemeanor Ignition Interlock Device Tampering/Failure to Install/Violate Court Order.

Lauritz has a history of criminality dating back to 1990, with offenses ranging from child abuse, domestic abuse, burglary and theft, drug possession and traffic violations.

His most recent offense was in 2018, also in Darlington. His fifth offense came in 2015, when he was arrested in Madison after nearly hitting a pedestrian.

Lauritz had an initial appearance in court on July 27 in front of Judge Jenna Gill. He received a $5,000 cash bond and will appear back in court for an adjourned initial appearance on Aug. 3.
