Darlington defeats Lafayette County rival Black Hawk

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds shot 56% from the free-throw line compared to the Warriors’ 29%, which proved to be the difference in a 50-35 nonconference game on Monday, Jan. 16.

Darlington went 15-for-27 at the charity stripe, led by Kylie Butler, who went 6-for-8. Mady Wedig also shot 75%, going 3-for-4. Jaidyn Evenstad and Maddie Gratz shot 50%, going 5-for-10 and 1-for-2, respectively.

Bulter was the only player in double figures with 16 points, including two 2-pointers. Sadie Goebel also drained two threes for her six-point total. Goebel was one of three players to score six points, along with Cayla Golackson and Wedig. Golackson led in rebounds with five. 

For Black Hawk, Mya Milz and Raylin Peterson scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Milz made nine of her points from beyond the arc. Peterson and Kendra Haldiman were responsible for the other two threes. Defensively, Jaliyah Collins grabbed a team-leading six rebounds.


POTOSI-CASSVILLE 65, ARGYLE 25

POTOSI — The Chieftains had three players score in double figures compared to the Orioles’ one, as Potosi-Cassville defeated Argyle in a nonconference game on Monday, Jan. 16.

Hartwig was the lone player in double figures for the Orioles, scoring 13 points. The next highest was Hannah Gierhart with four points, all coming in the second half. Sadie Steiner made a shot beyond the arc for three points, while Sara Helfvogt Lexi Wonders chipped in two points each. Mya McNett made one free throw.


BARABOO 64, MONROE 39

BARABOO — The Cheesemakers were unable to overcome a 38-23 first-half deficit in a conference game on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Taylor Jacobson led the squad with 19 points, going 3-for-5 from the free-throw line. The next highest scorer was Sophie Golembiewski with six points, including a three. Abbey Matley (three points) and Sydnee Conway (five points) also drained 3-pointers. The remaining offense came from Sophia Douglas (four points) and Delaney Fortney (two points).
