MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers left no doubt that they were tired of a two-game losing streak and pounded the Big Foot Chiefs 12-0 in five innings in a Rock Valley conference crossover game on Friday, May 1.

The Cheesemakers went right to work by scoring eight runs in the first inning. Monroe scored two runs on a triple by Kaegann Paulson. Two more runs scored on a hit by Ivie Ellenson. The Cheesemakers also got runs from Paizley Kundert, Ellenson, Annika Folk, and Jade Tran in the first inning.

Left fielder Fiona Junk went 2x2 with three RBIs. Shortstop Jayde Hawkinson was 2x3 with two RBIs. Paulson was 1x3 with two RBIs as the Cheesemakers collected 10 hits.

Paulson pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out nine of the 19 batters she faced.

Monroe improved to 13-4 overall and 5-2 in the Rock Valley Conference. The Cheesemakers had back-to-back games with the Jefferson Eagles in RVC-Valley action at home on Monday, May 4 and at Jefferson on Tuesday, May 5.

Turner 6, Monroe 2

Maddi Ruegsegger hit two doubles and scored two runs while Kaegann Paulson and Paizley Kundert each drove in a run, but the Turner Trojans handed the Monroe Cheesemakers their second straight loss, 6-2 on Thursday, April 30 in a Rock Valley Conference crossover game.

After taking a 2-0 lead after two innings, the Trojans scored three runs in the third inning and prevented the Cheesemakers from coming back. The Trojans were also aided by four errors committed by the Cheesemakers.

Paulson pitched four innings and gave up six runs (four earned) on eight hits. Ruegsegger pitched the final two innings and allowed no runs with a walk and two strikeouts.

Brodhead 16, East Troy 4

BRODHEAD – The Brodhead Cardinals jumped out to a 10-2 lead after two innings and clobbered the East Troy Trojans 16-4 in five innings in a Rock Valley Conference crossover game on Friday, May. 1.

Left fielder Natalie Pierce went 3x4 and knocked in three runs and starting pitcher Elise Rear went 3x3 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs and three runs scored. Leadoff hitter Keegan Steinke was 3x4 and scored two runs.

Elise Rear pitched all five innings and allowed four runs, three earned, four hits, seven walks, and nine strikeouts.

Brodhead (8-2-1, 6-2) had Rock Valley games scheduled against Delavan-Darien on Monday, May 4 and Turner on Tuesday, May 5.

Juda-Albany 17, Pecatonica 0

Jubany cruised by Pecatonica 17-0 in Six Rivers Conference action on Friday, May 1 by scoring 13 runs in the first inning. The Panthers sent 18 batters to the plate which included doubles by Emersen Butts and Ryleigh Brown and nine walks.

Brown was 2x4 with three RBIs. Butts went 2x2 with three runs scored. Anna Bartels was 2x2 and scored three runs. The game was the first of two played by Jubany on Friday, May 1.

On Saturday, May 2, Pecatonica lost twice at the Riverdale Tournament: 14-4 against Riverdale, and 8-7 against Ithaca/Weston. Pecatonica drops to 2-10 overall.

Juda-Albany 8, Argyle-Black Hawk 3

Jubany picked up another win on Friday, May 1 by defeating Argyle-Black Hawk 8-3 in a Six Rivers game.

Emerson Briggs drove in four runs on two hits with a home run and a double and catcher Phoenix Homan ripped a double and drove in a run for the Panthers.

Ryleigh Brown recorded nine strikeouts for Jubany.

Juda-Albany improved to 9-3-1 overall with the win and 7-3 in the Six Rivers Conference. The Panthers were scheduled to host Potosi-Cassville on Monday, May 4 and travel to River Ridge on Tuesday, May 5 in Six Rivers action.

Argyle-Black Hawk (6-11, 3-7) had Six Rivers games at home on Monday, May 4 against Belmont and Tuesday, May 5 against Pecatonica.

Monticello-New Glarus 5, Argyle-Black Hawk 3

Heidi Olson got three hits, an RBI, and scored a run while Rayna Vogel got two hits and an RBI to lead the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies past the Argyle-Black Hawk Orioles 5-3 on Friday, May 1.

Malorie Miller gave up three runs on six hits and struck out seven to lead the Ponies in the pitching circle.

Kylie Butler went 2x2 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored for the Orioles. Brianna Wilhelmson had a hit and scored a run for Argyle-Black Hawk.

Monticello-New Glarus (11-2, 8-2) continued Six Rivers play with Pecatonica at home Monday, May 4 and at Potosi-Cassville on Tuesday, May 5.

Monticello-New Glarus 7, Potosi-Cassville 5

Rayna Vogel hit a two-run homer and the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies came back from a 5-0 deficit to beat Potosi-Cassville 7-5 in Six Rivers softball on Thursday, April 30.

Mabel Jordan tripled and knocked in a run and Annie Olson went 2x4 with a double and three RBIs to complete the comeback with a four-run sixth inning.

Lancaster 15, Darlington 1

The Lancaster Flying Arrows ran out to a 6-0 lead over the first two innings, then closed out the game with a seven-run fifth inning to blast the Darlington Redbirds 15-1 in nonconference softball on Friday, May 1.

Raynie Norgard got two of Darlington’s four hits in the game, including a double and scored a run. Lilly Ritchie and Isabelle Winkers, got the other two hits for the Redbirds.

Darlington (3-10, 1-6) was to resume SWAL play with road games on Monday, May 4 at Iowa-Grant and Thursday, May 7 at Southwestern.

Mineral Point 24, Darlington 0

Austyn Kinch and Ava Ingwell each doubled and homered as the Mineral Point Pointers walloped the Darlington Redbirds 24-0 in four innings in SWAL softball on Thursday, April 30. The Pointers got their 24 runs on 20 hits.

Lilly Ritchie doubled to lead off the fourth inning for the only hit of the game for the Redbirds and their only baserunner.

Columbus 13, Belleville 5

The Columbus Cardinals grabbed an 11-0 lead in the fourth inning before the Belleville Wildcats could put together a five-run inning and took a 13-5 win in Capitol South softball over the Wildcats on Friday, May 1.

Ava Chapman slashed a double and had two RBIs to lead the Wildcats. Korynn Potter, Leonor Ortigoscrervantes, and Brynlee Shirley also drove in runs for Belleville.

Belleville (3-12, 0-8) had a game at Madison La Follette in nonconference action scheduled on Monday, May 4 followed by a Capitol South game at home against Marshall on Tuesday, May 5.

Waterloo 16, Belleville 4

A nine run sixth inning helped the Waterloo Pirates take a 16-4 win in six innings over the Belleville Wildcats in game one of a Capitol South doubleheader on Thursday, April 30.

Brynn Prochaska hit a double and drove in a run for the Wildcats.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Pirates scored 10 runs in the first two innings on their way to a 14-3 win in five innings.

Brynn Ennis hit a double and drove in two runs and Prochaska had a double and an RBI for the Wildcats.

With the loss, Belleville saw their record drop to 3-11 overall and 0-7 in the Capitol South.
