SOUTH WAYNE — Black Hawk scored the win of the season so far, fending off conference contender Barneveld 48-44 in a Six Rivers East game Feb. 6. The Warriors, who led 24-19 at halftime, held Barneveld to just 30.4% shooting in the game, including a paltry 2-for-21 (9.5%) mark from three-point range.
Maddy Lange had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Black Hawk. Reese Anderson added 11 points, Maddy Place finished with eight points, eight assists and six rebounds, and Mya Milz chipped in eight points and seven boards. Izzy Durst led Barneveld with 17 points.
Black Hawk out-rebounded the Eagles 38-23 and assisted on 16 of 19 baskets. Barneveld had just four assists on 14 buckets.
Belleville 61, Wisconsin Heights 24
BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats jumped out to a 28-point halftime lead en route to scoring a relatively stress-free win over the Vanguards Feb. 6.
“Going into the game we talked about continuing to play together on both ends of the floor,” said Belleville coach Eric Liegel. “First half I thought we were locked in on the defensive end of the floor. We created double digit turnovers and did a nice job holding them to one shot. Offensively we struggled at times. I felt like we forced a few shots, but also we were not converting on some pretty good looks as well. We didn’t shoot the ball well from the line tonight either.”
Belleville junior Toria Devoe finished the night with 16 points, and now sits just 15 away from the vaunted 1,000 mark for her career. Nikole Schulz and Addison Edge each finished with 12 points. Edge added a team-high seven rebounds. Devoe and Khylee Lietz had six steals each, while Schultz and Maddi DeSmet tallied four steals apiece.
The Wildcats sit tied atop the Capitol South standings with Cambridge. Belleville has just three games left in the regular season — all three are against conference foes. The Wildcats were scheduled to travel to New Glarus on Feb. 11, then host Cambridge Feb. 14 in a game that very well might declare the conference champion. Belleville’s regular season finale is Feb. 20 at Waterloo, which is winless in conference thus far this season.

New Glarus led 30-20 at halftime and out-scored Marshall 25-16 in the second half.

BOSCOBEL — The Redbirds doubled up the Bulldogs 34-17 in the first half, then did the same (plus an extra three points) in the second half of a convincing SWAL tilt on Feb. 7.
