NEW GLARUS - Junior Kelly Fredrickson went 2-for-3 with two RBI to propel the New Glarus High School softball team to a 9-6 comeback win over Belleville on Thursday.

New Glarus (4-12, 3-9 Capitol South) jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning. Junior Maya Kramer and Fredrickson each delivered with RBI singles. Junior Madison Perkins had a key two-run single to give the Glarner Knights a 4-2 lead.

Belleville came back and scored four runs in the second to take a 6-4 lead.

The Knights rallied with a three-run third to take a 7-6 lead.

"We have definitely become a more competitive team this year," New Glarus coach Hannah Grossen said. "That is what we were hoping for. The girls continued to play hard. They didn't give up, and they kept hitting."

Kramer and senior Jessica Van Dusen each went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Perkins also drove in two runs for the Knights.

Van Dusen pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up five earned runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked three.

Juda-Albany 12, Benton-Shullsburg 0 (6)

BENTON - Juda-Albany senior Jessica Crull went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI to power the Panthers to a six-inning win over Benton-Shullsburg.

Crull hit a solo home run in a two-run fourth to help the Panthers (11-2, 9-0 Six Rivers East) take a 6-0 lead.

The Panthers sealed the victory with a six-run sixth. Junior Chelsea Burkhalter singled to lead off the sixth and freshman pinch-hitter Piper Bailey singled.

"The big key was the top of the order getting on and setting the table," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said.

Crull delivered an RBI single and senior Danielle Dieckhoff came through with an RBI single to give the Panthers a 9-0 lead. Junior Sayde McDermitt and Haley Freitag each had an RBI single, and sophomore Hailey Kammerer knocked in a run with a fielder's choice to end the game.

Juda-Albany sophomore Nicki Becker pitched a two-hit shutout. She struck out 10 and didn't issue a walk.

"She has really been in a zone," Davis said. "In our last six games she's averaging 12 strikeouts."

Burkhalter went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and junior Alexis Goecks was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Parkview 5, Brodhead 0

ORFORDVILLE - Parkview's Kortni Grenawalt tossed a five-hit shutout to propel the Vikings over Brodhead.

Brodhead senior Kalli DeLorme had two hits to lead the Cardinals.

The Vikings had a four-run fifth inning.

Parkview senior Seirra Coleman had two hits, and junior Becca Smith had two RBI.

Brodhead sophomore Azzy Steiner pitched six innings and gave up five runs on five hits. She struck out eight.
