MONROE - Monroe girls basketball coach Kevin Keen announced Friday that he will retire from coaching at the end of the season.

Keen has coached basketball in Monroe for 33 years at various boys and girls levels. He is in his 22nd year as the girls head coach and has compiled a record of 386-125.

Under his tutelage, the Lady Cheesemakers have won 13 conference championships, qualified for the state tournament seven times and earned three state titles - including two in the past four seasons. Monroe won the gold ball in 1989, 2006 and 2008.

Monroe (17-0) is the top-ranked team in Division 2 according to separate polls and is expected to return to state for the third straight season this year.
