Janecke, Roth selected for Kohlman Cup

MONROE - Avalanche PeeWee A teammates Cade Janecke and Hayden Roth have been selected to represent the 2002 (birth year) and 2003 (birth year) Region 4 teams in the 2015 Kohlman Cup tournament this weekend.

The Kohlman Cup is an event that showcases the top Tier II PeeWee hockey players in the state of Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) in broken into six regions. Janecke and Roth are members of Region 4, and play for the Monroe Avalanche.

They tried out in a pool of 95 skaters for a spot on each team that consists of nine Forwards, six Defensemen, and two goalies. They were evaluated by 12 coaches from the region on skating ability, stick handling and their ability to play the game. Both secured spots as forwards for their respective teams.

On April 11-12, they we will travel to Fond du Lac and compete against teams from the other five regions. Along with competing in the scheduled games, the boys will also have the opportunity to compete in a skills competition and may be selected for the All-Tournament team in each age group. Those players will be members of Team Wisconsin and will play in the Northern Exposure AAA tournament this summer.

This is Janecke's second time to be selected and he is the son of Andrew and Kari Janecke of Orangeville and the grandson of Dr. Tom and Sue Janecke of Warren and Tom and Rhonda Wonders of Darlington.

Roth is a first time member of the Kohlman Cup team and is the son of Jason and Joy Roth, and the grandson of Jim and Janeen Roth and Marv and Barb Pieper of Orangeville.
