MADISON - Craig Hodgson of New Glarus tied for 74th place at the Wisconsin State Amateur Golf Championship Thursday at Maple Bluff Country Club.

Hodgson shot a 10-over-par 81 in the final round. He birdied the 559-yard No. 9 and the 364-yard No. 10. He collected seven pars, but struggled with a double bogey on No. 11 and a triple bogey on No. 12.

Mike Anderson of the Blackstone Creek Golf Club in Germantown, carded a 1-over-par 72 to win the 110th annual championship.

The magnitude of the victory was not lost with McDonald.

"It's pretty cool whenever you put your name with the likes of Steve Stricker, Skip Kendall, J.P. Hayes and the Bemowskis," he said.

McDonald said he expects to stay an amateur, at least for the foreseeable future.
