MONROE - The 2012-13 Monroe Youth Hockey Association season is set to begin soon.
MYHA offers hockey teams for ages 3 through high school. Those who missed registration can still join.
To register for hockey go to www.monroeyouthhockey.com and click on the "Registration" tab. Those who register will need to have a USA Hockey number before they begin. To register for a number, visit www.usahockey.com. After receiving a number, registration for Avalanche Hockey can be completed.
Practices for Mites, Squirts, PeeWees, U12 Girls and Bantams teams begin the week of Monday, Oct. 15.
The Atoms team begins practice on Monday, Oct. 22. The high school team begins practice Monday, Nov. 5.
MYHA offers the use of most hockey gear for all first year players at no charger. In addition, MYHA offers a U12 girls team and is one of the few organizations not to co-op with other hockey organizations to make up a girls only team. Girls hockey is the fastest growing aspect of youth hockey and MYHA invites all girls to try hockey. Cost for the first year is only $225 and includes free equipment rental.
The 2012-13 season will be the first year of WIAA play for the High School team. Schools included in the co-op include Albany, Beloit Turner, Darlington, Freeport, Lena-Winslow, Monroe, Parkview and Pecatonica.
More information is available at www.monroeyouthhockey.com or by contacting Andy Knauf at (608) 220-8306 or Andrew Janecke at (815) 908-1054.
