MONONA GROVE - In the final tune-up before the Southern Badger Conference track meet, the Monroe boys track team took 14th at the Monona Grove Invitational on Friday.
"We are still looking for the right combinations in some events before the postseason," Monroe boys track coach Dave Hirsbrunner said. "As a coaching staff, we are very satisfied with how we performed."
Monroe took about 12 athletes to the invite which featured 24 schools; most of them being Division 1 programs. Monroe sophomore Jeff Hill finished second place in the pole vault after clearing 13-feet.
Monroe senior Brett DeNure took second place in the 1,600-meter run with a personal best 4 minutes, 25.8 seconds.
Monroe's Joe Pecora added a seventh place finish in the 1,000 run (2:42.3) and Cameron Wahl took seventh in the pole vault with a PR (12-6).
The Cheesemakers' 800 relay team of Bryan Tordoff, Dan Vale, Alex Bartlett and Tad Christen finished seventh with a time of 1:34.
