MADISON - Monroe sophomore Olivia Bobak went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to lead the Cheesemaker softball team to a 13-2 win over Madison Edgewood on Tuesday.
Monroe (10-4, 5-2 Badger South) had three-run first and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. The Cheesemakers pounded out 14 hits.
"We put a lot of people on base and they came through with hits," Monroe coach Joe O'Leksy said. "I like the fact that we are on the ball better and we are hitting it up the middle a lot."
With the win, the Cheesemakers are just one game behind Oregon and Fort ATksinon in the race to win the Badger South Conference championship.
Monroe freshman Grace Tostrud went 2-for-3 with one RBI and sophomore Hailey Betthauser was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Senior Lexi Hilliard went 2-for-5 with three RBI and junior Alysha Witt also knocked in three runs.
Bobak pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up one earned run on five hits. Bobak struck out nine and walked two.
"She (Bobak) was in control for the most part," O'Leksy said. "On two strikes she got a lot of them chasing on her rise ball."
Monroe will host Milton at 5 p.m. Thursday at Twining Park.
