WARREN - The Black Hawk High School boys basketball team rode the strength of their post players to a 48-45 win over Warren (Ill.) Monday night.

Black Hawk freshman Conner Meyer and junior Josh Meier each scored 16 points to power the Warriors. Black Hawk (5-5, 2-2 Six Rivers East) snapped a three- game losing streak. Ten of the Warriors' first 11 games have come on the road.

"For a young team to be .500 shows a lot of character," Black Hawk coach Charlie Anderson said.

Anderson said defense and rebounding have been areas the Warriors have had to get better at during the three-game losing streak.

"We rebounded well, and we did a good job of getting the ball inside to our post players Conner Meyer and Josh Meier. They did a good job of finishing because Warren had some tall guys."

Black Hawk sophomore C.J. Leuzinger and senior Chase Stietz each added eight points.

Black Hawk will play at Barneveld on Thursday. Barneveld is unbeaten in the Six Rivers East Conference.

"We will have a mighty challenge in front of us," Anderson said. "Jim Myers is one of the best coaches in the state."
