Viola F. “Vi” Nafzger

Age 93 of Monroe, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 with her loving family by her side at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Viola was born on June 4, 1925 in Monroe, the daughter of Peter and Frieda (Wyman) Bernet. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1943 and was united in marriage to Robert D. Nafzger on February 12, 1944 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. Vi and Bob were owners of Bob and Wig’s Cycle Shop in Monroe for many years until retiring in 1983. She was a long time member of St. John’s U.C.C., Monroe Moose Lodge #754, Windy Acres Golf Club, and Stateline Square Dancers.

Vi’s most precious times were spent with family. She was a lover of life. She enjoyed traveling with Bob throughout the United States in their motor home. She also loved family vacations to their cabin in Hayward. Vi enjoyed dancing, golf, playing pool, watching the Packers, playing cards, and would never turn down an invitation to the casino. Vi had many lady friends with whom she enjoyed having coffee, breakfast, and lunch. These friends were very special to her.

She is lovingly survived by three daughters, Donna Dahl of Edgerton, Jane (Keith) Johnson of Blanchardville, and Barb Boll of Monroe; five grandchildren, Jerry (Theresa) Dahl Jr., Brian (Susan) Dahl, Sara Johnson, Doug (Katie) Johnson, and Joe Johnson; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Josh, Brianna, Allie, Danielle, and Samantha Dahl, and Kiley and Ian Johnson. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Darlene Bernet of Argyle; a brother-in-law, Sam (Dilly) Nafzger of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, on February 21, 2007; a son-in-law, Gerald Dahl Sr.; two brothers, Wilbert and John Bernet; and two sisters, Anna Prisk and Helen Hoesly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Reverend Kathleen Rinear of St. John’s United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
