Samuel L. Smith, age 85, of Kimball, Minnesota, formerly of Argyle, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Public visitation will be held from 1:00-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 1st, 2020 at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle, WI with a military salute to follow. A celebration of life will follow services.

Samuel Leon Smith was born March 26, 1935 in Kennard, Indiana to Harvey and Mary (Dalton) Smith. He grew up in Kennard, Indiana. Sam enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a gunner in the Korean War. He was married to Linda Anschutz on November 9th, 1956, she preceded him in death in 2005. In 2006, he was united in marriage to Anna (Eichinger) Mathies in Luxemburg. Sam spent most of his working life traveling the country as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Packer & Badger football, Milwaukee Brewers, tinkering around and anything that had to do with his family. If he wasn’t enjoying one of those things you could find him sitting at a picnic table, enjoying a cold beer and shooting the breeze with passersby. Most remember him and his late wife from the bait shop, Riverside Bait and Tackle.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Smith; children, Jeff (Jo) Smith, Dan Smith, Sandra (Dave) Wallgren, Rick Smith and Gary Smith; step-children, Matthew (Peggy) Mathies, Cindy (Ron) Krueger and Margaret (Tom) Kotula; special grandchild, Liana Smith; and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda; son, Harvey; and daughter, Kimmie.
