Rosemary Voegeli, age 85, of Monroe, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home. Rosemary was born on September 13, 1938 in South Wayne, the daughter of Freddie and Alta (Hale) Meier. She graduated from South Wayne High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Gaylord “Buddy” Voegeli on August 23, 1958 in Browntown. The couple farmed near Monticello and Rosemary worked at the Swiss Colony until retiring. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, enjoyed bowling, puzzles, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by four children, Michael (Velvet) Voegeli of Monroe, Penny (Jim) Ruchti of LaVergne, TN, Rita (Gene) Grinnell of Monroe, Nancy (Mike) Myers of Sterling, IL; eight grandchildren, Luke (Ari) Voegeli, Jadie (Daniel) Brown, Julianna (Justin) Voegeli-Hurley, Bobby Voegeli, Kayla (Ben) Denny, Erik (Ashley) Grinnell, Garrett (Amanda) Grinnell, Tyler Myers; and eight great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaylord, on December 8, 2019; son, Terry Voegeli; brother, Wesley Meier; and two sisters, Pauline Peters and Betty West.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
