Roger F. Hoesly, age 87, of Monroe, died at his home on Friday, May 3, 2024 after an extended illness. Roger was born on May 26, 1936 in Exeter Township, the son of Walter and Ruth (Matzinger) Hoesly. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Donna Douglas on November 14, 1959 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. He was employed in the grocery business for 42 years before retiring. He was an avid Packers, Badgers, and Brewers fan and enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle. In his younger years, Roger was a member of the Marshall Bluff Bowhunters, loved playing softball, and coached many men’s and women’s teams throughout the area.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna Hoesly; son, Dale (Tricia) Hoesly; daughter, Beth (Tom) Tautges, all of Monroe; four grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Hoesly and their children, Harper, Harlow, and Henley; Craig (Jenna) Hoesly and their son, Jackson; Ryan (Amy) Gerber) and their children, Rylee, Aaron, and Hunter; Kyle Gerber (Michelle); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Hoesly; and sister-in-law, Judy Hoesly.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Christina Schoenwetter officiating. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in Saucerman Cemetery, Cadiz Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Roger’s name to St. John’s UCC or a charity of one’s choice. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family.
