Richard Melvin Paulson, age 78, of Monticello died Tuesday morning, August 14, 2018, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born to Orion and Myrtle (Johnson) Paulson on July 19, 1940, in New Glarus where he grew up and graduated from New Glarus High School. In his adult life, he worked as a shipping clerk at Moore’s Business Forms in Monroe. Richard married Patricia Ann Locke on March 30, 1968 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They lived and raised their family in New Glarus and Monticello.
Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia; three children: Mike (Diane) Paulson, Amy Paulson and Lisa (Austin) Wright; and a grandson, Samuel Richard (Iolanda) Elder. He is further survived by three sisters: Lois (George) Eichelkraut, Paulette (Larry) Kussow, and Judy (Allen) Hanna, and many friends and family. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick A. Paulson; and a brother, Doug Thompson.
A visitation for Richard Paulson was held Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Blanchard Hall, 206 Main Street, Blanchardville. A funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Blanchard Hall preceded by an hour of visitation. Rev. Lance Smith of the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello officiated. Burial was in the York Memorial Cemetery, rural Blanchardville.
