Norma B. Slaback

Norma B. Slaback, age 76, formerly of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Skaalen Heights in Stoughton.  She was born on October 3, 1947 the daughter of Norman and Mescal (Walter) Nemec in Richland Center.  Norma's early years were shaped by the love and guidance of her maternal grandmother, Lillian Walter, who raised her and her siblings after the tragic loss of their parents in 1957. She graduated from Kickapoo High School in Viola and then went on to attend UW Whitewater where she received a degree in Business Education. Norma married Raymond Slaback on August 9, 1969 in Viola.

Norma was a high school teacher at Black Hawk High School and Brodhead High School, from which she retired in 2005. Her passion for teaching extended into the evenings, where she also instructed night classes at Blackhawk Technical College.  Norma was also an executive secretary at Swiss Colony. She was deeply involved in her community, volunteering her time and energy at Family Promise in Monroe and Stoughton Public Schools. Her greatest joy, however, was found in the laughter and love shared with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
