Marian I. Pickett, age 80, of Argyle, WI, passed away on her 58th wedding anniversary, Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe, WI. She was born July 18, 1938 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Charles and Arlene (Schultz) Huber, Sr. Marian graduated from Monroe High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Stanley Pickett on August 28, 1960 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. She grew up near Monroe and worked as a secretary for Rudy Haskee who served as the Green County Superintendent of Schools. Later she worked at Advance Transformer in Monroe as a group leader worker for twenty-eight years retiring in 2000.
Marian is survived by her husband: Stan of Monroe; four children: Linda Liphart and Michael (Traci) Pickett both of Monroe, Robert Pickett of Powell, TN, and SuAnn (Joe) Newingham, of Apple River, IL; nine grandchildren: Alan Liphart, Eric (Destini) Liphart, Adam (Jenel) Liphart, Shannon (Adam) Hawkinson, Ryan Pickett, James (Cailey) Pickett, Joshua (Janessa) Newingham, Cory (Jessica) Newingham, Casey (Casey) Newingham; five great- grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Delmer Fredricks of Stoughton, WI; one sister-in-law: Lucyanne Huber of Monroe; and one sister: Delores Bechtolt of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Charles Huber, and one sister: Bernice Fredricks.
Marian was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown and its Women’s Guild. She was an avid horseshoe player, playing in the Moose Lodge Horseshoe League in Monroe where she and Stan were rated third. Marian loved preparing holiday meals for her family gatherings. She enjoyed playing cards and Rummy with Stan every morning as scores were kept for years. Marian also enjoyed making crafts, sewing quilts, gardening, fishing and watching ball games.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Browntown Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown with Rev. Scott Cernek officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. at the church.
