MONROE - School administrators and exempt staff will receive a 2-percent pay raise for 2016-17.

District Administrator Cory Hirsbrunner said the increase is about the same as teachers and school support staff received this year.

The Monroe school board approved the exempt and administrative staff salaries after a brief closed-session discussion Sept. 26.

It applies to Monroe's 11 administrative staff members and nine exempt staff members, Business Administrator Ron Olson said in an email. Exempt staff includes the food service director, building and grounds director and school nurses.

The increase costs $22,000 for administrators and about $10,800 for exempt staff, Olson said.

Hirsbrunner said the raise is already accounted for in this year's budget.

The school board approved the district's 2016-17 salary agreement with the Monroe Association of Support Staff in June with a raise of 2.13 percent. At a cost of almost $67,000, the increase covers 140 employees, many of whom work part time, according to Olson. Board member Rich Deprez abstained from the vote, which was unanimous.

MASS includes teacher aides, custodial staff and secretarial staff.

Last year, support, administrative and exempt staff all received pay increases of about 2 percent.
