Charlotte I. Gumtow, age 87 of Monroe passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Monroe Health Services. She was born the daughter of Harry and Iola (Wiltrout) Miles on August 12, 1939 in Monfort, WI. She attended Rockford High School. On May 25, 1957 Charlotte married Walter Gumtow in Cascade, WI.

Charlotte ran a daycare in her home for many years and also provided home care and foster care. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, cooking, baking, quilting, traveling, and going to flea markets. Above all, Charlotte cherished the time she spent with her family.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Walter of Monroe; children, Brenda Knouse of Monroe, Brian (Lisa) Gumtow of Monroe, Bonnie Pasker of Lone Rock, Bruce (Tammy) Gumtow of Beloit, and Barbara (Jeremy) Pankhurst of Brodhead; foster son, Troy (Tammy) Dietmeier of Damacus, MD; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darlene Monson of Rockford, Howard (Dixie) Miles of Fennimore, and Juanita Miles of Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Kyle Gumtow, granddaughter, Brooke Knouse Allen; son-in-law, Larry Knouse; three brothers; one sister; two sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM Noon at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Schmidt officiating.

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
