AP hosts invite, Cards challenge at Jefferson Invitational

Yellowstone Invitational

Argyle/Pecatonica hosted Southwestern/Benton for the Yellowstone Invitational at Yellowstone Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 28.

Emma Johnsen paced AP’s girls team with a time of 24:17.6. Sophie Howard (25:08.0), Avery Webster (27:56.5) and Dalaney Fisher (28:21.4) were the other top AP runners. SB’s Mackenzie Knuckey was the race champion at 19:17.6.

On the boys side, SB’s Josh Richardson was the overall winner at 18:27.0. Finishing third and fourth were AP’s Mitchell Johnson (19:37.7) and Ayden Slater (20:25.9). Kaleb Baumann (21:42.2) and Tristan Olson (21:46.8) were eighth and ninth overall.

Jefferson Invitational

Brodhead-Juda’s girls team finished third at the Jefferson Invitational on Sept. 29. The Cardinals scored 86 points, just ahead of Waterloo (90), but behind Jefferson (73) and champion Evansville (36). On the boys side, Brodhead-Juda (156) was eighth, with Edgerton (50) finishing ahead of Jefferson (89) for the team title.

Individually, Olivia Brooks was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line in the girls race, taking fifth overall with a time of 21:47.1, a little more than a minute behind champion Katelyn Sterns (20:44.8) of Delavan-Darien. Brodhead-Juda had a four-person pack finish consecutively from 21st to 24th place: Ryleigh Brown (25:07.8), Avalynn Plummer (25:14.5), Caroline Riemer (25:25.5) and Quinn Burchard (25:25.6).

On the boys side, Ashton Henze (19:06.0) was the first Cardinal to finish, taking 13th overall. Treyton Leutenegger (19:44.9) was 26th and Jameson Lenthe (20:44.7) was 38th. Evansville’s Sebastian Cortes-Cadena, a freshman, won the race with a time of 17:41.2.
