LaVerne G. Rosenstiel, age 85 of Monticello, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026 surrounded by his wife and children. LaVerne was born on March 6, 1941 in Monroe, WI the son of Glen and Viola (Rufer) Rosenstiel. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1959. On June 23, 1963 LaVerne married Sharon Granberg at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church, Argyle, WI. Together LaVerne and Sharon shared sixty-three years of marriage filled with family, friends, hardwork, laughter, and countless memories. Their love grew into a beautiful family with four children, Shelley, Todd, Lisa, and Tamara, and then adding grandchildren and great-grandchildren. LaVerne loved his children and all his grandchildren. He looked forward to their visits and cherished all the times spent with them, especially when they would bring the grand fur babies to along. LaVerne was a farmer all of his life until he could no longer do the things outside, he loved. He loved life on the farm and caring for the animals, his son would begin farming alongside him. Mowing hay was one of his favorite farm jobs, he enjoyed seeing the deer, rabbits, and turkeys run out of the hay fields with each round. LaVerne was a member of the Monticello Lions Club, he enjoyed working and helping with the cheese curds at the concession stands. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and playing euchre and dirty clubs. LaVerne and Sharon would attend neighborhood card parties to play cards and socialize. He also enjoyed trips to the casino to play the slots machines. His housecat “Trouble” of over twenty years was adored and loved dearly. LaVerne was an avid Oliver toy collector and drove Oliver tractors on the farm. He would attend many toy shows hoping to add to his collection. LaVerne loved to share many stories from his childhood with others around him.
LaVerne is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Shelley Sturdevant, Tamara (Mike) Zweifel, and son Todd Rosenstiel, grandchildren Nicole (Brad) Thompson, Matthew Sturdevant, Gerard (Cassandra) McKibben, Michael (Megan) Zweifel, and Travis (Jessica Wagner) Zweifel, great-grandchildren Chloe Besik, Gannon & Greyson McKibben, and Lucas, Emryn, Ilah, & Averly Zweifel. He is further survived by his sisters Joan Barth, Shirley Eells, and Cindy (Steve) Bechtolt, brothers Marvin (Sherry) Rosenstiel, Wayne (Diane) Rosenstiel, Keith (Janis) Rosenstiel, and Delbert Rosenstiel, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Zwingli United Church of Christ-Monticello., 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello, WI with Rev. Peter Strobel officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery, Monticello, WI.
A visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ-Monticello.

The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and staff of SSM clinics and hospitals in Monroe and Madison for their great care of LaVerne. The family also extends a thank you to Belleville EMS for their assistance with LaVerne. Lastly, thanks go to SSM Heath at Home Hospice, specifically nurse Barb Seffrood for her compassionate care and empathy shown to LaVerne and family. Our family will be forever grateful.
