MONROE - A romantic mystery novel, "Still Life," has been released by debut author, Darlene Kennison. She writes under the pen name DB Kennison, and eBook and print versions are available through Samhain Publishing, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo.

Kennison has been honing her skills with creative writing classes, participating in critique groups and attending the University of Wisconsin Continuing Studies Writer's Programs.

"Completing the book was a labor of love, but finding a publisher and traversing the editing process was a humbling and thrilling experience at the same time. In the end it was worth the effort," she said.

While not a native to the state, Kennison considers Wisconsin home and uses it as inspiration in the first book of the Randi Lassiter Series. The small-town mystery series is based on a fictional community in southern Wisconsin and the surrounding area. Kennison said "Still Life" has a little something for everybody and from the twisting plot, romance, and quirky humor this book will keep you turning pages to find out "whodunit."

Here is a sampling of reviews posted on Amazon:

"If you enjoy Evanovich or Patterson, you will love this one. I was disappointed to see it end, but I cannot wait to read the next one. This author has definitely made a fan out of me."

"Randi Lassiter had me hooked from the start. 'Still Life' has it all; murder, mayhem, humor, romance and intrigue. With DB's easy writing style, her colorful characters and vividly painted scenes, you're right there in the book."

"Keeps you guessing as to who done it right up till the end. Full of suspense, laugh out loud humor in parts, romance."
