Beverly Vandlen, age 86 of Monroe passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026 surrounded by her family at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. She was born the daughter of Vern and Erma (Cline) Smith on April 15, 1940 in Martintown. She attended Buckskin and Monroe Schools. Beverly was united in marriage to Charles Vandlen on June 5, 1960; they recently celebrated 66 years together.
Beverly took great pride in caring for her family and her home, including gardening and tending to her flowers. She loved hosting holiday gatherings, baking and enjoying the many treats she made. She will be remembered for her kind, caring nature. She had a big heart with a soft spot for children and dogs. Beverly had an in-home daycare for several years; she also did housecleaning and dispatch for the Monroe Cab Company. She was also a member of Monroe United Methodist Church.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Jeff (Ellen), Steve (Jodee), and Scott (Shannon) Vandlen; grandchildren, Bryon (Sarah), April (Greg), Mandi, Charlie, and Derek; great-grandchildren, Logan, Gavin, Madeline, Mila, Joseph, Gabby, and Anthony; her sisters, Evelyn Tschanz and Maralyn Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Delbert Smith, Glenn Smith, Geraldine Johnson, Edith Milestone, Virginia Ryser, and her sister, Helen in infancy.
