Capitol Conference announces spring All-Conference teams

The Capitol Conference has released its selections for All-Conference teams in spring sports. Gracie Atkinson of New Glarus was awarded Player of the Year in the Capitol South for Girls Track and Field.

In boys track and field, Jesse Luchsinger of Belleville was named Second Team All-Conference in the boys 100 meter dash. Luchsinger also got First Team All-Conference in the 200 meter dash. Milo Johnson, Ethan Seffrood, Sawyer O’Flanagan, and Jaiden Sidwell of New Glarus made Second Team All-Conference in the 2x200 meter relay. Matt Allen, Dawson Brown, Charley Spiegel, and Jesse Luchsinger of Belleville received Second Team All-Conference in the 4x100 meter relay.

Tucker Sysko of New Glarus earned First Team All-Conference in the high jump. Brayden Schmitt of New Glarus received First Team All-Conference in the pole vault. Brent Weeden of New Glarus got First Team All-Conference in the shot put and Second Team All-Conference in the discus throw.

In girls track and field, Marie Besley of New Glarus earned Second Team All-Conference in the 100 meter hurdles. Besley also got First Team All-Conference for the pole vault. Gracie Atkinson, Kalia Malaise, Besley, and Kennedy Sysko of New Glarus got First Team All-Conference in the 4x200 meter relay. Atkinson, Besley, Malaise, and Vivian Lancaster of New Glarus were named First Team All-Conference in the 4x100 meter relay. Freshman Braxtyn Ayers of Belleville was recognized as Second Team All-Conference for the 200 meter dash. Sophomore Annabelle Curl of New Glarus got First Team All-Conference for the high jump.

In the girls long jump, Gracie Atkinson of New Glarus got First Team All-Conference and Braxtyn Ayers of Belleville got Second team All-Conference. Atkinson also received First Team All-Conference in the triple jump while Kalia Malaise of New Glarus got Second Team All-Conference.

In softball, four players from Belleville received Capitol South post-season honors. Junior Bryn Prochaska earned First Team All-Conference. Sophomore Brynn Ennis and senior Sophie Fossum got Second Team All-Conference. Freshman Ava Chapman was named Honorable Mention.

Nine players from New Glarus were named to the Capitol South All-Conference Team. First Team All-Conference went to senior designated hitter Landon Stelter, senior infielder Nolan Julseth, and senior outfielder Matt Roth. Second Team All-Conference were senior catcher Ashlin Mihlbauer, sophomore pitcher Kamm Nehmer, sophomore infielder Brock Roth, and sophomore outfielder Ethan Colstad. The Glarner Knights had two players earn Honorable Mention; senior infielder Braden Rear and freshman infielder Caleb Weber.

The Belleville Wildcats had five players make the All-Conference baseball team. Junior pitcher Marcus Hebgen made the First Team. Junior Utility player Austin McKinley was named Second Team All-Conference. Sophomore infielders Dawson Smith and Gavan Crum and sophomore outfielder Wes Henry were named Capitol South Honorable Mention.

The Sugar River Raiders had 10 players named to the Capitol South All-Conference team in girls soccer. First Team All-Conference went to junior Kate Parman, senior Ella Woodmansee, senior Toria Devoe, and junior Ellie Brenkman. Named to Second Team All-Conference were junior Holly Maynard, and senior Savannah Minter. Honorable Mention was awarded to junior Nikole Schultz, senior Taya Gilbertson, senior Kennedi Esser, and junior Cora Funseth.
