MONROE — What’s even funkier than Limburger cheese? The wildly colorful, retro-inspired outfits worn by international touring band Bombargo.

Bombargo is coming to Cheese Days on Friday, Sept. 18.

Get ready for a high-energy show on stage, and a crowd-wide costume contest on the street. Festival goers should dress in their grooviest, boldest, most over-the-top looks inspired by signature styles of Bombargo band members: think granny squares, flared pants, glitter, and ’70s flair. Follow Bombargo on social media for inspiration.

Cheese Days “spotters” will be roaming the crowd at the show, scouting outrageous outfits and inviting standouts to participate in a costume contest at intermission. Three or four finalists in each category will be brought on stage, with winners determined by audience cheering and applause. Gouda prizes will be up for grabs.

Contest Categories:

● Loudest Pants at the Party (crazy patterns, flares, extra points for crocheted pants)

● Human Disco Ball (glitter, sequins, sparkling fringe, metallic platform shoes)

● Retro Revival (bell bottoms — boho — hippie chic — straight from the 1970s)

● Dynamic Duo (twinning is winning)

● Family Funk (group entry — extra points if you can get your grandma to participate)

Beyond their unforgettable fashion choices, Bombargo is known for delivering electrifying performances. Frontman Nathan Thoen brings boundless energy and showmanship, with “moves like Jagger” even when wearing crocheted granny square pants while dancing on top of a surfboard held aloft by audience members.

Bombargo, hailing from Canada, has toured internationally with recent stops across Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Switzerland. The band earned recognition by none other than Taylor Swift, who featured their song “Mr. No Good” on her “Songs Taylor Loves” Spotify playlist.

With their trademark motto, “Good time guaranteed” — or as Cheese Days fans might say, “Gouda time guaranteed” — this is one Cheese Days party you just can’t miss. Bombargo takes the stage on Friday, Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. For the complete schedule go to cheesedays.com.
