No injuries in empty barn fire

MONROE - No injuries were reported after a barn caught fire Friday morning near the intersection of County P and County HK in the Town of Monroe.

A passerby reported the blaze at 3:57 a.m. The barn was empty at the time of its ignition and no animals were threatened.

The building had collapsed by the time responders arrived.

Responders left the scene at approximately noon after the fire was subdued. The fire was still burning after they left, but the barn owners monitored the remains of the blaze.

No cause has yet been determined for the fire.

The Monroe, Juda, Browntown, Orangeville, Monticello and New Glarus Fire Departments responded to the scene.
