BRODHEAD - Warner Herrli, age 87, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 5, 1922 in Browntown, WI, the son of Carl and Emma (Leiser) Herrli. He married Carol C. Clark on October 28, 1953.
Warner worked for General Motors of Janesville for over 30 years, was a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of the United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Decatur Lake Country Club, both of Brodhead. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and was a New York Yankee fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, a son, Mickey (Teresa) Herrli, Rochester, MN, two daughters, Lynne (Scott) Savage, Spring Green, WI, Lori (Michael) Vavrus, Cottage Grove, WI, eight grandchildren, Raymond, Nicole, and Joseph Herrli, Maxwell, and Alexander Savage, Natasha, Claire, and Emma Vavrus. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Everly Alice., six brothers, Fred, Ernest, John, Carl Jr., Walter, and one in infancy, four sisters, Rose Wells, Clara Taylor, Lena Stuessy, and Mary Boman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Rev. Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Monroe Clinic Hospice.
