T. James "Jim" Newman age 80 of Monroe, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at his home. Jim was born December 25, 1932 in Monroe, the son of Ted R. and Myrna (Gingrich) Newman. He graduated from Juda High School and on December 18, 1955 married Elaine M. Hackle at St. John's United Church of Christ. Jim worked for Tri-State Breeders for several years, was a salesman for Marty-Ripp Chevrolet, and most recently was employed at Clark Implement and Evergreen Equipment until retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe Volunteer Fire Dept. (10 years), past member of the Alpine Curling Club, lifetime member of the Argyle Rod and Gun Club, and Honorary lifetime of the Mayville Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a Chicago Bear fan.

He is survived by three children, Mike Newman, Patricia Brandt (Mike Hubbard), and Laurie (Wayne) Segner, all of Monroe; five grandchildren, Amanda (William) Nolan, Katie (Todd) Peterson, Cassie (Lance) Slotten, James Segner, and Ashley Segner; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Helen Hafen of Monroe; a niece, Jill (Chuck) Roethe of Dodgeville; and a special friend, Bernice Benkert of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine in 1998; a brother, Myron in 1952; a sister, Rebecca in infancy; and a brother-in-law, William Hafen.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor David Busker officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Jim's name.

The family would like to thank Jim's neighbors for their caring support and the members of the Argyle Rod and Gun Club for their loyal friendships throughout the years.
