Sally J. Mitchell, age 58 of Browntown, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was born on September 8, 1953 in Freeport, IL; the daughter of Wilbur and Nellie (Heefner) Jones. She graduated from Lena / Winslow High School. Sally married John Mitchell on May 16, 1992 in South Wayne at the United Methodist Church. Sally first worked for Yeager Ins. Co in Lena, IL, for the last 35 years she has worked at the Swiss Colony. She was a strong supporter of the Green County Humane Society, she loved the hunt for antiques and restoring them, the outdoors, Ellie her dog, and most of all, her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, John of Browntown, son, Josh (Angie) Daughenbaugh of Monroe; grandchildren: Sam, Jadie, Jace, and Jaxson; 5 siblings: Phyllis Craig, Sue (Steve) Scheider, Richard (Cathy) Jones, Jerry (Susan) Jones, and twin brother, Stan Jones; mother-in-law, Arabelle Mitchell, also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant brothers; sister, Vivian Eisen; brothers-in-law, Allen Craig and Marvin Eisen; sister-in-law, Sandy Jones; and a nephew, Eric Scheider.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Monroe United Methodist Church, with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home. In Lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund is being established.
