Roger C. Wang, age 88, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on February 28, 1926 at the family home in Woodford, the son of Charles and Bertha (Peterson) Wang.

Roger and Sandra Lee were married on July 19, 1958 in Beloit.

Roger served in the U.S. Marines, serving in the Korean Conflict from April 9, 1952 to March 25, 1954.

Roger farmed with his twin brother Russell in the South Wayne and Woodford area. He later worked at General Motors from 1965-1973; after leaving General Motors he returned to farming in the Monroe area. After retiring from farming, Roger worked for Swiss Colony as a courier for several years.

Roger loved playing cards, dancing and enjoyed his many trips to Branson, MO.

Roger is survived by his children: Gary Wang, of Monroe, David (Joan) Wang of Monroe, Carol (Tom) Figi of Juda, Cheryl (Preston) Baker of Sparta, grandchildren: T.J. and Steve Figi both of Juda, Michael Wang of Madison, Derek and Bryan Wang both of Monroe, Kelsey Baker of Sparta, and sister-in-law, Alice Wang of Wiota.

He is predeceased by his parents; grandson, Alex Baker; sisters, Bonnie Wang and Alpha Anderson, brothers, Paul, Charles, Gerald and twin brother, Russell; and special friend June Snyder.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church with Rev. Luke S. Smetters officiating. Burial will follow at East Wiota Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave. in Monroe; and one hour prior to service at the church.
