Monroe Police

MONROE - On Thursday, May 30:

• An athletic bag was found at Northeast Park, 2700 5th St., and brought at 12:23 a.m. to the police station, where it can be claimed.

• A pitbull running loose was found at 12:58 a.m. in the 2300 block of 17th Avenue. It was taken to the Green County Humane Society.

• Plastic wrap was found wrapped around the arch at Monroe High School at 2:05 a.m., a possible senior prank.

• A small fire that had been set in a bathroom at Twining Park was discovered at 6:21 a.m. when an officer on patrol saw smoke coming from the bathroom. It was extinguished. It is being investigated as arson.

• A hound dog was found running loose at 9:49 a.m. in the Monroe Estates Mobile Home Park at 560 West 21st Street. No one answered at the phone number on the dog's collar. A resident at Monroe Estates is keeping the dog tied up outside until the owner can be located.

• An unruly 8-year-old boy was reported at 10:44 a.m. at Northside Elementary School. He was turned over to a family member. The case was referred to Juvenile Intake.

• The owner of a rusty old vehicle sitting on a lawn in the 1300 block of 17th Avenue was warned to move it after police responded to a complaint at 10:54 a.m.

• At 11:09 a.m., a resident watching out a window in the 2500 block of 1st Street reported seeing a neighbor pass by walking a dog and not pick up after it after it defecated on a lawn. An officer responded and spoke with the dog walker, who denied not picking up after the dog. No feces were located.

• At 11:14 a.m., a woman reported leaving her purse in a cart at Walmart, 300 6th Ave. W., and when she went to retrieve it, it was gone.

• Police are investigating a report at 11:15 a.m. that someone tried to pass a fraudulent check at Stop-N-Go, 1607 9th St.

• A set of keys was found in the 1300 block of 17th Street at 11:24 a.m. and can be claimed at the police station.

• A resident in the 2000 block of 13th Avenue was warned to mow the lawn after police responded to a complaint at 11:29 a.m.

• Police have leads in an investigation of a person who reportedly attempted to get prescription drugs by fraudulent means at Schultz Pharmacy, 1008 17th Ave. The pharmacy reported the possible fraud at 12:34 p.m.

• A woman reported that an envelope full of cash fell out or was stolen from her purse in the area of Aldi, 640 W. 8th St.

• The theft of cash from a purse left in an unlocked vehicle parked in the 2100 block of 13th Street was reported at 2:47 p.m.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Thursday, May 30:

• Jack C. Clark, 48, Monroe, was arrested at the Green County Justice Center at 2:08 p.m. on a Department of Corrections warrant. He was jailed.

• Deputies found a damaged cellphone at 6:16 a.m. in the roadway at the intersection of Wisconsin 11/81 and County KK in Jefferson Township. It can be claimed at the sheriff's department. The case number is G13-03704.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Thursday, May 30:

• A deputy assisted Belmont police at 10:49 a.m. with a hit-and-run traffic accident on Wisconsin Avenue in Belmont.

• The theft of hand tools from a location on White Street in Benton was reported at 10:49 a.m.

• A deputy responded to County F in Fayette at 2:57 p.m. to assist with traffic control while a utility company and township workers cleaned up debris from a fallen tree.

• A restraining order violation was reported at 6:40 p.m. on County Y in Wiota Township.

• Vandalism to a mailbox was reported at 8:26 p.m. on Hillcrest Road in Argyle Township.
