MONROE — No injuries were reported from a crash involving a Monroe Police cruiser.

According to police, the patrol vehicle was driving just after 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, when it was stuck by another vehicle in the intersection of 13th Avenue and 17th Street, on Monroe’s near south side.

Police said a vehicle operated by Carlos Enrique Sarceno Aguilar, 33, of Monroe, left the stop sign eastbound on 17th Street at 13th Avenue, and ran into the driver’s side of the cruiser being driven by Jacob J. Allen, 39, who was northbound on 13th Avenue traveling through the intersection.

The crash is still being investigated by deputies from the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Meanwhile, Aguilar was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, operating with no valid driver’s license and operating without insurance; and was released pending a court appearance.
