Larry L. Lancaster, age 85, of Monroe, died at home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 14, 2026. Larry was born on November 1, 1940 in Argyle, the son of Charles and Ruth Irene (Nelson) Lancaster. He lived in New Glarus as a child before moving to Monroe and graduating from Monroe High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and was united in marriage to Darlene Kessler on September 30, 1961. He was the store owner of Larry’s Chalet Market in Monroe for 19 years. He was a former Monroe Moose Lodge member and was one of the first presidents of the Monroe Morning Optimist Club. Larry’s main passion in life was the time he spent with his family. He also enjoyed playing softball, golfing, traveling, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene Lancaster of Monroe; four children, Lynn (Phil) Maternowski of McKinney, TX, Steve (Gail) Lancaster of Monroe, Scott Lancaster of Plain, WI, Brian (Sondra) Lancaster of Beaufort, S.C.; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; his brother, Jerome (Lois) Lancaster of Middleton, WI; and his best buddy, Benji. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jerald, Charles, and Ross.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Visitation will precede the service on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Services will conclude with burial in Lamont Cemetery, rural Darlington, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Larry’s name.
