Marguerite F. Beer age 93 of Monroe, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Marguerite was born March 29, 1920 in Darlington, the daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Stutz) Koch. She married Edward Beer on July 26, 1937 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. Marguerite and Ed made cheese at the Disch and Bayhoffer factories for several years and she also worked at the Swiss Colony for 30 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, St. John's Women's Guild, Monroe Senior Center, and Women of the Moose #599. She loved traveling, playing cards, tent camping, crocheting, quilting, and embroidering.
Marguerite is survived by a daughter, Pauline (Merlyn) Phillips of Monroe; a son, Larry (Sandra) Beer of Fennimore; five grandchildren, Angela Phillips, Andrea (Kirk) Sweeney, Melinda (Charles) Mascagni, Travis (Emily) Beer, and Shawn (Marie) Beer; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Wedesky; and a brother-in-law, Fred Beer, both of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six sisters, Betty Huffman, Ann Blum, Clara Schultz, Mary Andersen, Rosa Koch, and Frieda Blum; and two brothers, Frank and Joseph Koch.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in her name for the Monroe Lion's Club. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
