MONROE - There was no damage to Monroe High School after the Monroe Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the high school Friday night.

The Monroe Fire Department was called to the high school at about 11:07 p.m. Friday.

Monroe Deputy Fire Chief Lane Heins said that a kiln that dries pottery for art classes was in operation.

"The exhaust fan wasn't on and there was a buildup of smoke," Heins said.

Heins said there was no structural damage to the school. The fire department just had to air out the classroom.
