EDGERTON - Ken Duane Matthew Johnston, 71, of Edgerton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, with his loving wife by his side after a long battle with complications due to diabetes. Born September 15, 1938 in Boscobel, WI, the first born son of Glen I. and Inez G. (Swenson) Johnston. Ken was president of the Savanna High School Class of 1957. He married classmate Despina Phyllis Mihalakis on October 4, 1958. They settled in Freeport, IL, where he worked as a mold maker at Micro Switch for many years before starting his own shop.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Despina Phyllis (Mihalakis) Johnston; his mother, Inez G. Johnston of Savanna; a sister, Karen (Jerry) Woolcock of Freeport; a brother, Ron (Sue) Johnston of Savanna; his three children, Cheryl Lindberg of Caledonia, Cathy (Dan) Sennett of Monticello, WI and Ken R. (Mary) Johnston of Davis; his 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his father, Glen Irving Johnston; sister-in-law, Cheryl Ann (Thompson) Johnston; brothers-in-law, George and Phillip Mihalakis and son-in-law, Michael Allen Lindberg.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, at Edgerton United Methodist Church, 112 Albion St., Edgerton, WI with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time. His cousin, Rev. Jean Bartlett will officiate. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in his name.
