Jeffrey "Bear" Qualley

Jeffrey "Bear" Qualley, age 48 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the U.W. Hospital in Madison, after a short battle with cancer. Jeff was born on December 24, 1962 in Monroe to Russell and Rose (Naef) Qualley. He was a 1981 graduate of Monroe High School. Jeff and Julie Ruef were married in April 1990 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Jeff loved hunting and fishing. He also was an outstanding pitcher and played in several area slowpitch leagues. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles and watching the Green Bay Packers. But his greatest love was to spend time with his family and friends. Jeff worked for Woodbridge in Brodhead for 24 years and most recently Wolfe Appliance in Madison. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, White Tails Unlimited, WI Bowhunters Association, South Central Archery Club, and United Textile Workers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters, Kimberly & Megan; mother, Rose all of Monroe; brothers, Scott (Shari) Qualley of Eagle River & Kurt (Penny) Qualley of Mineral Point; in-laws, Fred & Carol Ruef of Tennyson, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Russell and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe, with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
