Jack W. Paschal, age 76, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Genesis West Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will follow at the Lanark Cemetery in Lanark, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Memorials may be directed to the family. Jack was born on July 26, 1932, at home in Coleta, Illinois, the son of C.W. "Pat" and Bertha (Wickerts) Paschal. "Pat" was a prominent businessman in the Savanna area. Jack attended school in Carroll County. He married Janet Holtshopple on October 22, 1955, in Monroe, Wisconsin. He recently married Cindy Kingery in Davenport, Iowa.
Jack was a lifelong farmer and livestock dealer in the Savanna area, and enjoyed going to livestock auctions and auctioneering competitions. He raised cattle for many years, and he and his children showed cattle at county fairs. Jack enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri, and to Richland Center, Wisconsin, to watch rodeos. Jack also liked to watch professional bull riding on television. He was a lifelong New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs fan. Jack enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and taking walks, classic country music, working with Cindy on the farm, and watching horse races.
Jack is survived by his wife Cindy Pachal of Savanna, Illinois; one daughter, Lynn (Garry) Harms of Monroe, Wisconsin; two sons, Dirk (Ann) Paschal of Gurnee, Illinois, and Ryan Paschal of Monroe; three granddaughters, Morgan Harms, Emily Paschal, and Amity Paschal; two great-grandsons, Gavin Robinson and Oliver Schmelzer; two sisters, Vi (Kenneth) Ranker of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Ruth Carey of Savanna; one brother, Earl (Grace) Burmeister of Lanark, Illinois; and his first wife, Janet Paschal of Monroe, Wisconsin.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
