Hans R. Kampfer, age 87, of Monroe, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on September 16, 1926 in Clark County WI, the son of John and Charlotte (Hediger) Kampfer. Hans and Doris Weston were married on November 10, 1952 in Argyle, WI.
Hans served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 as a mechanic on B36 Bombers. Hans owned and operated the Hans 76 Gas Station and later was repairman for Fleet Support Services at Monroe Airport retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Civil War Air patrol for 30 years. Hans bought plans and built his own plane, which he flew for 25 years. He also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Monroe, brothers, James (Virginia Leitzinger) Kampfer of Monroe, sisters, Rosemary (Clarence) Schmidt of Glenco, MN; Marguerite (Robert) Stoehr and Ruth (John) Wells both of Monticello.
He is predeceased by his parents, brother, Calvin, and sister, Frieda Indergand.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
