Gordon C. McCoy, age 86 of Gratiot, WI, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe, WI. He was born July 3, 1922 in Shullsburg, WI, the son of Clarence and Marie (Swanson) McCoy. Gordon was united in marriage to Cleone P. Shepherd on January 5, 1950 at the bride's home in Shullsburg. He lived and farmed in White Oak Springs Township for twenty-seven years. In 1985, he began with Swiss Colony in Monroe where he worked in the packaging department until his retirement.

Gordon is survived by his wife: Cleone; seven children: Janet (Gary) Wiegel of Browntown, WI, Cathy (Jerry) Lee of Platteville, WI, Eunice (Lyle) Simmons of Menomonee Falls, WI, Ray (Rose) McCoy of Gratiot, WI, Sheila Paulson of New Glarus, WI, Randy (Suzy) McCoy of Monticello, WI, Rick (Tanya) McCoy of Monroe, WI; one brother; one sister; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and four sisters.

Gordon was a member of Argyle United Methodist Church. He was a past chairman of White Oak Springs Township and for many years served on the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors. He was an avid White Sox fan, and enjoyed working in his garden. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg with Rev. Brenda Whitford officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg.
